What is Hypnotherapy?
|
| Hypnotherapy
is one of the oldest and probably the most successful of all the healing
therapies. As it's name suggests, it is the use of hypnosis in a healing
process completely free of drugs.
There are many misconceptions about hypnosis, so many in fact that it would be easier to say what it is NOT than what it is. There is nothing mystic or magic in the practice of hypnosis, the hypnotist has no special powers, there are no swinging watches, spinning discs or flashing lights. Hypnosis is a natural state created in levels of deep relaxation during which it is possible to communicate directly with the subconscious. In the hypnotic trance state it is possible to instruct the subconscious to bring about behavioural changes. Those who suffer from "nerves" and anxiety can become confident and positive, addictive personalities can be helped to overcome their addictions, smokers become non-smokers, 'also ran's' become winners. Those who lack motivation and purpose find new meaning, new ambition, new goals. The Hypnotherapist can treat all Psycosomatic problems with a very high degree of success, including Phobias, Compulsions, Addictions, Anxiety, Panic states, Irritable Bowel Syndrome. (The medical profession now agree that hypnotherapy is the most effective treatment for IBS) Useful links:
